How to choose Antioxidants by colour? - How to support your health?

I love summer! Yuheeeeeeeyyyyy, it is summeeeeer!

And I tell you why. That is the best time for getting a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. You just have to go to the farmers' market and theeere it is. Even choosing what you want to prepare for lunch, or which fantastic, colorful and juicy fruits you want as a snack will be hard. I am pretty sure, you end up with a bunch of shopping bag in your hand. :)

As we hear all the time, also from our grandmas fruits and vegetables are very important. When I was a kid, my grandma always told me, "Eat a lot of carrots, so you can learn how to whistle". And of course I ate, because I was sooo keen on learning how to whistle. Sometimes these are good methods to make the kids eating some healthy food.

To make it simple. Antioxidants help to prevent our cells from damages. The soldiers, are beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene, selenium, Vitamin A - C - E.
They are found in many foods, fruits, veggies, dietary.


The best way to choose which fruit you would prefer is the grouping by color.

Antioxidant,Vitamine,Fruit, Vegetables, Health,
Green
  • Lutein (protect eyes; boost immunity; support healthy tissues, skin, blood)
    • where to find: kale, cucumber, zucchini, peas, avocado, aspargus, green beans
  • Chlorophyll (Detoxyfing; helps build red blood cells and xollagen; boost energy and well-being)
    •  where to find: all leafy green veggies, sprouted grasses, microalgae
  • Indoles (anticancer properties; supports healthy hormone balance)
    • where to find: brussels sprouts, broccoli, bok choy, cabbage, turnips

Yellow
  • Carotene (Vitamin A source; anticancer & heart-protective properties; protect mucous membranes - line and protect the inside of your body)
    • where to find: orange and every yellow veggie and fruits
  • Xanthophylls (Vitamin A; anticancer properties; protects eyes and brain; strenghten immune system)
    • where to find: every red fish, like salmon, sockeye fish (it is also high in B12)

Red
  • Lycopene (protect against heart disease, cancer, vision loss
    • where to find:  tomatoes, watermeon, goji berries, papaya, rosehips
  • Anthocyanins (reduce risk of heart disease, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases)
    • where to find: cranberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, red cabbage
Purple/Blue
  • Anthocyanins (anticancer properties, healthy aging)
    • where to find: blueberries, eggplant, grapes, grape juice, rasins, red wine
  •  Resveratrol (anticancer properties, balance hormone levels)
    • where to find: grapes, grape juice, red wine, mulberries, cocoa
White
  • Allyl sulfides (boost immunity, anticancer & anti-inflammatory properties)
    • where to find: onions, garlic, scallions, chives
  • Anthoxanthins (lower cholesterol & blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease)
    • where to find: bananas, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, parsnips, potatoes, garlic, ginger, turnips
If you combine these ingredients, you will realize they not just taste good, but they look good when you combine the different colors. :)

Lets mix it, eat it! Colorful is eatable! :)
